Hey friends! I love wedding exits and seeing the creative side of my #DGPcouples come out!
Here are some tips for popular wedding exits I have been a part of:
1. Think about time. Most guests don’t stay more than 3 or 4 hours (except the ones who love dancing the night away). You don’t need a huge group of people for a beautiful and fun exit, but depending on how many you do want to include, think about adjusting that “exit” time!
Another thing I like to suggest to my #DGPcouples is a “staged exit”. If you plan to do the exit late in the night, often times, photography coverage ends long before the exit happens. So instead of having my couples pay for 3-4 more hours of coverage, we’ll gather their bridal party and close family and grab some “exit” photos before we head out! Fun trick to still get you those pictures and keep the party going!
SPARKLERS
A classic and beautiful way to end the evening.
- Buy the LONG sparklers. Not only do these look absolutely incredible in photos, they last so much longer, giving you plenty of time to light them all and walk down!
- Don’t rush! Give yourselves the freedom to be in the moment, have fun and cheer, look around at all your guests, and take it all in. It’s the final moments of your wedding day, so don’t feel like you have to run and rush down! Also, theres no rule that says you can only walk/run through the line once! Surprise your guests and go through again and do something different this time! It makes the fun moment last longer PLUS you get extra pictures! Guests love it too and usually cheer even louder the second time.
3. Show off your fun personality! Dip, kiss, twirl, have your groom carry you- do whatever feels natural! If nothing else, I always encourage my couples to stop about half way and kiss. It makes for the most gorgeous photos!
BUBBLES
Bubbles are a fun and gorgeous exit idea, especially if it is earlier in the day!
- It is best to do a bubble exit when the sun is still out or in a very well lit area.
- Have your guest start blowing bubbles all at the same time. Bubble pictures look best when there are a lot of them!
- Get a bubble machine! Hand out little bubble containers to your guests but really amp up the bubble look by stationing a bubble machine (or two) in the middle of the line up or down toward the end where your photographer and videographer will be.
FLOWER PETALS
I LOVE petal exits! It looks so pretty in pictures plus its environmental friendly!
HANDS UP!
Your venue wont allow anything during the exit? No worries! Just simply having your guests line up with their hands up and cheering you on is a fantastic way to end the night!
BE CREATIVE
Don’t be afraid to get creative with your exit! Here are some more grand exit ideas if you want to be different!
- Confetti
- Glow sticks (get the long ones!)
- Rose petals
- Paper airplanes
- Smoke bombs
- Pom Poms
- Ribbon wands
- Flags
- Feathers
- Beachballs
- Sprinkles
- Fake snow (for winter weddings)

There are so many ways to exit your ceremony or reception. At the end of the day, you should pick something that you and your future spouse love and want! Even if its something totally new and different, do what fits your personalities!
